~ Veritas Christian Co-op ~ Lebanon, Ohio ~Logic (Grades 7-10) ~ In class we will go over examples and real-life, often humorous, discussion problems. Students will learn to identify valid and invalid claims and arguments, sufficient and insufficient evidence, fact and opinion, generalizations, emotional arguments, inferences, deductions, and more. Students will learn reasons from the Bible to study logic, which includes defending their faith. Scheduling Info/Prerequisites: 1 trimester Intended Curriculum: The Fallacy Detective and Critical Thinking Book 1 Outside Work: Minimal Supply/Book Fees: None Supply List: 1" 3-ring binder 10 dividers labeled Weeks 1-10 Notebook paper in the binder Pencil/Pen Weekly newspaper, magazines, ads that the student can use at home to find examples of critical thinking fallacies A Bible will be needed at home for some of the assignments, but does not need to be brought to class. |
