~ Veritas Christian Co-op ~ Lebanon, Ohio ~Magic Tree House: History & Science (Grades 3,4) ~ Using the popular series, Magic Tree House and its research guides, students will learn how fiction and non-fiction can work together. They will learn setting, character, plot and theme. The imaginary adventures will introduce children to events in history and science as Jack and Annie travel through time. History is explored when the children visit ancient Egypt, ancient China, ancient Greece, the middle ages in England, William Shakespeare in England, pioneers in the old west, soldiers in the Civil War, passengers on the Titanic, astronauts on the moon and many more. Science is explored when they visit the rainforest, the moon, and the earthquakes in California or the twisters of the Midwest or the tides of Hawaii. Many other topics are also touched on including geography, art, music and poetry. Scheduling Info/Prerequisites: 1, or 2 trimesters-They do not have to be done in succession. Intended Curriculum: Scholastic Unit Study Outside Work: Minimal-Moderate, depending on reading level (will be reading 1 book/week) Supply/Book Fees: Need access to the books Supply List: Pencil Crayons or markers 3-ring binder or folder with 3 rings in it |
