~ Veritas Christian Co-op ~ Lebanon, Ohio ~World Geography (Grades 1,2) ~ This is a geography-based unit study for young children that includes mazes, word searches, maps, flags, and lots of suggestions for activities. The main objective of Galloping the Globe is to introduce young children to the seven continents and some of the countries within each continent. Along with studying geography, students will be introduced to various historical figures, missionaries, and animals of the world. Scheduling Info/Prerequisites: 1 trimester Intended Curriculum: Galloping the Globe Outside Work: Minimal Supply/Book Fees: None Supply List: 1/2- inch binder or folder with 3 prongs 1-2 glue sticks Markers and/or crayons Scissors Pencils The students will need each of these materials EVERY week. Please have them come prepared. We will be studying a different country or region each week. Upon doing so we will watch a brief segment of a DVD about children in that country, locate the country on a world map and globe, color a map of the country and their flag, etc... We will also play review games and occasionally make crafts. The last day will consist of a wonderful feast. I will send home information about the feast during the first day of co-op classes. |
